Tennis Racket Care and Maintenance

Tennis is an ever-popular game in all parts of the world, attracting an enormous 23 million people to play. What’s even more impressive is the fact that it’s a number which is still growing! There is something you should know about before you decide to try it for yourself.

We’re going to look at how you can watch out for your investment in your tennis racket, not damage it. Read on, and let’s clean up our rackets.

The Silent Killer of Your Tennis Racket

Whether it’s a Walmart tennis racket, a Wilson tennis racket, a HEAD tennis racket, or your kids’ tennis racket, two things’ll kill it quick. Those two things are dust and sweat, the two eternal enemies of sports equipment.

The good news is that it’s easy to fix. All we’ll need to do is give our racket a quick clean. It doesn’t take anything fancy, only some good old-fashioned soap and water.

You can use special cleaners if you like, but in all likelihood, they aren’t required to get it clean. The one exception is if it was put into storage when it was already dirty.

Keeping Your Racket Tightly Strung

What’s a racket without strings? Having the strings of your racket tight, taut, and ready to play is an essential piece of racket care. You’ve got the option of stringing it yourself, but you need special equipment.

Plenty of professionals will do it for you and have your racket as good as new in no time, so don’t worry.

If you’re wondering when you should get it restrung, we say around 30 hours is an excellent target.

Get a Better Grip

No matter what tool you are using, nothing feels worse than having a poor grip on a handle. Even if everything is fine with your racket, you could develop unseen injuries from subconscious habits, thanks to the poor grip.

It’s easy enough to tear off and reapply, and it’s 100% worth doing. If you find this all a hassle and don’t want to do it as often, you can buy a grip cap to prevent the grip from falling away from the handle.

Once you’ve got that strong grip, all you’ll need is the singles strategy for tennis to compete.

Get a Proper Storage Area for Them

Last but not least, learn where to store your racket! Many fragile things go into making it, so you want to have it somewhere dry, temperate, and away from potential accidents.

Remember to keep it away from dust, too. Inside some sort of sealed bag would be ideal.

Improving Your Tennis Game

Even though it might seem impossible now, some of these tips could help transform your tennis game. They say that a poor workman blames his tools, but sometimes it can be the tennis racket at fault. Follow some of our racket maintenance tips, and you’ll notice the difference in no time.
