How to Start your Day the Right Way

6 Tips that will Help you Make Every Day Great

Starting your day in the right way can change the way the rest of your day plays out. Having a good start to the morning will make you a happier and healthier person. Too many of us wake up at the very last moment, stumble our way through getting ready, and rush out of the door to work.

Wouldn’t your morning be better if you had the time to enjoy a good cup of coffee and reflect on your life? Could you achieve your fitness goals if you made time to exercise in the morning?

Here are 6 easy to do tips that will help you to start your day in the right way.

1 – Drink water as soon as you get up

Our first tip is to drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up. It doesn’t have to be ice cold, it doesn’t have to have lemon in it – you just need to drink it!

The majority of adults in America do not drink enough water. Starting your morning off with a glass of water is a great way to combat that. You will feel less groggy and more energetic after taking your first sips of the day.

To make the new habit easier for you, keep a glass of water by your bed so that it is there as soon as you wake up in the morning. You want to make this action as easy to do as possible.

2 – Take time to reflect

It has been proven that spending the time to write a gratitude list every day will make you a more positive person. You literally train your brain to spot more things you should be grateful for.

So, each morning make yourself a cup of coffee with your Jura S8 and sit down with your gratitude notebook. You only need to write down three specific things every day to see the benefits of gratitude journaling. Most of us can do that in less than 5 minutes.

However, if you have more time feel free to write a longer list.

3 – Exercise

Studies show that we are happier and have more energy if we have exercised in the morning. You are also more likely to exercise if you commit to doing it in the morning rather than after work. This is an especially useful idea if you struggle to find the time to exercise or you don’t enjoy it very much.

If you exercise in the morning you can enjoy the benefits of the endorphins the workout produces all day, you will feel full of energy, and you can feel accomplished knowing you have already done the hardest task of your day.

4 – Stay off social media

Facebook’s own studies show that social media makes us miserable and damages our self-esteem. Hopping online is an easy way to cast a dark cloud over what could have been a great morning.

Take things slow in the morning and spend some time with yourself. Don’t dedicate any of your mornings to comparing yourself to others or any negative self-talk.

When you remove social media from your mornings you will be surprised by how much free time you have. You will have more than enough time to do everything else on this list.

5 – Do a ten minute tidy

If you want to feel good at the start of your day then you should get something done as early as possible. You can use this to create momentum and have a productive day.

Many behavior experts recommend that you start your day by making your bed. As it is an easy task and it will get the ball rolling. But we think you should take it a little bit further.

Set a 10-minute timer and tidy for that time. You will be surprised by how much you can get done and your future self will be very grateful.

6 – Plan your day the night before

There are a few things you can do the night before to make your morning even easier.

We recommend laying out your work and workout clothes the night before, so you don’t even have to think when you get dressed.

We also recommend writing out everything you need to do the next day before you go to bed. That way you won’t forget anything and you can jump straight into the list when you wake up. You are more likely to do something if you write it down.
