The park got its name from the most popular hill in the area. According to the Indian epic Ramayana, it is said that this hill was given to Lakshmana by Ram to keep an eye on Lanka(Sri Lanka).


Pench National park is located in Madhya Pradesh. This National park was established in the year 1975 and covers a total area of 257 sq km. The Pench National park derived its name from the Pench river which divides the park into almost 2 equal halves.

It was first known as a sanctuary, and then it was later upgraded as a National park in 1975. It was later given the name of a tiger reserve in 1992.


Sundarbans National Park is located in West Bengal. This is a part of the Sundarbans of the Ganges delta. This delta is filled with mangrove forests. Sundarbans National Park is one of the largest reserves for the Bengal tigers.

This National park was first known as a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1977. Later in the year 1984, it was upgraded as a National park. The delta is adjacent to the Sundarbans reserve forest in Bangladesh. Sundarbans National park is designated as the Ramsar site from 2019.
